Summer in Perugia

In the summer of 2019 I was hired to consult with Robert Trent Jones II to strategically redesign the bunker scheme for the Antognolla golf course. Built in the 1990’s with over 90 bunkers, the task given to me by the new ownership group was to reduce the number of bunkers while maintaining the challenge. The golf course rests between a dramatic “U-shaped” valley so we didn’t have to do much to create additional excitement. We settled on 54 bunkers, each with a wooly and eroded presentation to match the rugged surrounding of the golf course.

Antognolla is considered one of the best golf courses in Italy and features some of the scenic views in the region of Perugia.
